Surface Clean Still Isn’t Clean! Pull That Stove Out!

How often do you pull out your stove and clean behind the refrigerator? Do you ever move the couch and see what has fallen through and hit the floor? What I am really asking is, how often do you go beyond the surface to clean? We all sweep and vacuum around the furniture. We wipe off counters and so forth. But every now and then, you got to pull some stuff out. You got to get in the cracks and below the heavy stuff. It is amazing what you find, when you do. As believers, we go through the same thing. It is called sanctification. We start off with a little surface cleaning. We know get rid of the foul language. We stop going to the club. We even change a few of our clothes. But even though we are looking good on the surface, deep down inside we still have some cleaning to do. When God starts to peel away the layers of your life, what will we find?  We find hatred and bitterness from years ago. We find a little self righteousness. We act like we are a little better than the people we used to run with, now that we are “saved.” We find jealousy. We can never be satisfied with our own life because we are mad about somebody else’s success. Lord clean us up! We don’t want to look clean. We want to be clean. David prayed:

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

When God begins to reveal to you the issues of your heart, own them and then turn them over. Let hem go! Denial will never leave you feeling free. It will keep you in bondage and put you on the defense. Let God pull the stove and refrigerator out in your life. Let him through out the expired food and the leftovers that have been there too long. It may take hard work, it may not feel good, but when your house is clean….it feels great! Have you ever been to someone’s house and your foot sticks to the floor…..”crickets”……..exactly! Let’s open ourselves up to go through the proper cleansing process that God has for us. It may take some time, but it will be worth it.

Take Notice! Take Action!

God knows what he is doing. There is nothing that  will happen or that has happened that God did not know about. When you are led astray and find yourself in a bad place, God will meet you there. He somehow manages to take the road we are on and lead us right where he wants us to be. He allows situations to happen to draw us closer to him. When you find yourself being drawn away from God, you being distracted or possibly under demonic influence. Take notice! Take action! The enemy is not using anything new, so why do we keep falling prey to his tactics. When he wants to kill someone spiritually, the first thing he does is lie to them. He isolates them and makes them feel like they don’t have a place in the body of Christ. He steals their identity and gives them a new one. You have to pay attention to the details of your life. Take notice! Take action!

  • When new people come into your life and the influence draws you farther away from God, take notice! Take action!
  • When your job frustrates you to the point that you find yourself constantly complaining, take notice! Take action!
  • When your life takes a turn for the worst and you feel overwhelmed, take notice! Take action!
  • When you have secret addictions that keep you out of the presence of God, take notice! Take action!

Everything in our life is either a lesson or a blessing. Bad things can be used to make us better. It doesn’t always feel like it, but it is up to you to choose your response and your influences. Salvation is your foundation and the Holy Spirit is your guide. The word is a lamp that will light your path. If the word exposes a dark area of your life, take notice! Take action! You have come too far to be stuck or to go backwards. God has great things planned for you. You are destined for greatness. Grab on to the word of God and continue to move forward.

What Time Are You Living in?

Image result for past present and futureWe are supposed to forget what is behind us, live in the now, and look toward our future. But, how often do we find ourselves living in the past, looking at the now, and forgetting we have a future? Yes, we live in past hurts, past failures, and past disappointments. You are not there any more so why do you keep living in it? We look at our present finances, our present understanding, and our present spirituality. Stop looking at where you are now, it is only temporary. We forget we have a future destiny, future relationships, and future blessings. These are things to come so, you should always be hopeful and full of faith that things will get better. Lord, help us to change our perspective and put everything in its rightful place, in our lives. Whether it was our past, is our present, or will be our future- You were, are, and will be there! Help us to appreciate and embrace every moment of our life. Help us to let go of the things that have come to an end. Most of all, help us to walk into what lies ahead.
