We have to be sensitive to and sincere about the things that concern us. Sometimes our situations weigh us down enough to seek others for prayer but we are not putting forth the effort to pray for ourselves.
James chapter 5:13 says if any among you be afflicted, let him pray.
What is afflicted? to suffer (endure) evils (hardships, troubles) Yes! Suffer! Hardships! Troubles! If you are suffering, pray for yourself. Once you pray for yourself, then ask someone to come in agreement with you. It is crazy to ask someone to come in agreement with something you aren’t even praying for. That is why some prayers are not effective. You have been entrusted with the gift of the Holy Spirit and the power of God. Use it to maintain the dominion God has commanded you to have. Yes, there are times when you will need others to pray for you.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much
***Notice*** it starts off with confessing our faults. But we don’t want to confess our faults. We try to hide those things. What exactly is a fault? The word fault means: a lapse or deviation from truth and uprightness, a sin, misdeed
So, basically you must confess the sin in your life and pray for one another and be healed. You don’t need anyone to pray for you when your feelings get hurt or like we like to say, “Going Through.” If you are afflicted pray for yourself. We are in times when prayer is necessary and need to have an focus behind it. We cannot depend on others to keep us uplifted. Although, someone is always praying for you even when you do not realize it. Increase your faith and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. Then next time you are going through some trouble and hardship, begin to pray for yourself. Command change in your life. If you are falling short in your walk, confess it and be accountable so someone can pray for you. Once you have been healed in that area keep it moving! I hope this encourages you to walk in the power of God. Know the difference when it is time for you to pray and when you need someone to pray for you. Everything about God has an order. And yes, it does work!
