Single People! You Do Have A Choice!

I just want to talk to some single people tonight. Take a look in the mirror and tell yourself, “You do have a choice.” One of the hardest things to do is to wait on God for a mate. It seems like it is going to take forever. Then, when someone shows up, your hopes are high and you can’t help but hope he/she could be the one. Then you start seeing little signs that make you say, ummm, he/she ain’t quite so saved. Then you think, well they can change . I’m not judging. All I have to do is pray for him/her. Then, you find yourself slipping and compromising your walk to be with that person. Before you know it, your feelings are in it and he/she has weaseled their little self into your heart, your bed, and maybe even into your house….to live. How did you get here? Nobody’s supposed to be here! Said a song writer some time ago. Yeah, nobody but God should be there. LOL! But let me remind you what the Word of God says.

1 Cor 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

You do not have to devalue yourself to find a mate. You do have a choice. You were bought with a price. There is someone out there who will not only recognize your inner beauty but also recognize your worth. You have to know your worth first. If you don’t respect you, why would they respect you? You have to set your boundaries before you meet someone.

  • I will not go to his/her house alone.
  • I will not put myself in a compromising position.
  • I will not accept phone calls after 12:00 am. (Depends on your struggle) You might need to shut it down at 8:00 pm.
  • I will not Face-time, Oovoo, Periscope, Skype or whatever else is out there, half dressed.
  • I will not ride alone in the car with him/her. Whatever. I’m just throwing some things out there, and they may be a bit extreme, but you get what I’m saying and some of you are agreeing lol.
  • I will not send a sexy picture.
  • I will not have phone fun. Mature people understand this one.

You gotta do whatever it takes to maintain your salvation. The Bible says Be ye holy for I am holy. You have to keep yourself pure, in a godly manner. You do have a choice. If they speak to you in a disrespectful manner, you can decide to walk away. If they are mistreating you now, why do you think they will miraculously start treating you right after, “I do?” You do have a choice. Don’t be so anxious that you settle for anyone. And don’t be so critical that you miss out on the right one.

***WARNING***If you choose to marry unequally yolked, just be prepared to deal with everything that comes with it. If you want to know the truth about that life, get my book, Women in the Waiting, on Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. Like how I put that plug in? 🙂

If you do find a mate who is truly saved, there are still going to be ups and downs. There is no perfect marriage. You just have to be willing to work to make it last. A union brought together by God is supposed to be forever. So, you have to really think hard about who you plan to spend the rest of your life with. Then, listen to the Holy Ghost. I can’t say it enough, you do have a choice.  Pay attention to the warning signs: Player potential, womanizer, abuser, disrespectful, inconsiderate, selfish, insecure, obsessive, possessive, controlling, lazy, needy, moody…etc And if any of these things are in you, you are not ready for marriage. Get counseling. Get delivered. Get God! Then, get married. But just remember, you do have a choice!

Be encouraged,
